Cape Town – A police constable and two others have been arrested after they were found with goods stolen during a housebreaking in Wellington, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.

A woman recently reported that her personal belongings, cash, and cellphones were stolen while she was sleeping in her home in Park Street, Wellington, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.

Investigations led officers to Mettler Street on Tuesday morning, where they found the three at the back of a house. A search revealed they had cash, wallets, and a cellphone.

The police officer, 28, had been stationed at Cape Town International Airport.

The trio would appear in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges including possession of stolen property.
