Cape Town - Police are on the hunt for a man after his girlfriend was found dead in his bedroom over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock on Wednesday said officers were investigating a murder case after 22-year-old Latoya Bosch was found in the Newtown, Postmasburg, home of her boyfriend Lebogang Christopher Mogabeng, 29, on Saturday.

"It is alleged that the deceased was visiting at her boyfriend’s house on Saturday. Her body was discovered by her boyfriend’s sister at approximately 17:30," he said in a statement.

Bosch is believed to have been suffocated.

Her Facebook wall was flooded with messages and comments from friends expressing their shock at her death.

Kock said police were attempting to trace Mogabeng as it was believed he could assist with information on the incident.

He was last seen on Saturday.

He urged anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts to contact Detective Sergeant Raneo Molelekeng on 082 302 0391 or 053 313 9329.
