Johannesburg – A man, believed to be in his fifties, was killed on Saturday evening after an apparent hit-and-run on the N12 outside Fochville, west of Johannesburg, Gauteng paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said shortly after 19:00 paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the man with severe trauma lying in the road.

Bystanders said the vehicle that originally collided with the cyclist continued to drive on, said Vermaak.

“It is understood from a bystander on the scene that a vehicle drove into the cyclist before throwing him into the road.”

He said several other vehicles also collided with the man.

The man was declared dead on scene.
