Cape Town - Rocking the Daisies on Saturday confirmed the drowning of a staff member at the festival.

"First and foremost, we want to extend our sympathies to the individual, who was a staff member of one of the event's suppliers, and to his family," PR Representative Darryn Lee said.

"We can confirm that at approximately 10:50 on October 7 a drowning occurred at the venue's dam."

Lee said the incident was picked up by the on-site lifeguards who acted swiftly.

On Friday, Western Cape police said they were searching for 21-year-old man.

"The identity of the man cannot be released at this stage," Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut said at the time.
