Cape Town - A man who went diving at Dyer Island, off the Overberg coast in the Western Cape, has yet to be found, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said on Tuesday.

The man, 31, from Gansbaai, had gone diving during the night and reportedly not surfaced from a dive around 02:00 on Monday, said NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon.

The police were notified.

CapeNature searched the shoreline but could not find anything.

An extensive search by the NSRI's sea rescue craft also revealed no sign of the missing man.

The police dive unit would continue with an ongoing search operation.
