Cape Town - Civil society groups which have been calling for President Jacob Zuma to resign are urging South Africans to participate in civic forums in their area to be able to influence government policies.

Working under the banner “Rise South Africa”, the group called for South Africans to stand up and take back their democracy.

Chairperson of the South African Christian Leaders’ Initiative Rev Moss Ntlha said a successful campaign against corruption called for more radical measures.

He called for South Africans to get actively involved and record their participation in different areas of democratic activism.

The group urged people to get actively involved in politics in their area, volunteer at a school or police station, hold councillors accountable and join prayer groups for leaders.
