Thohoyandou, Limpopo - A University of Venda student has been found stabbed to death at the house of her boyfriend, a medical doctor, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

Spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said police are on the hunt for him after his girlfriend was found stabbed to death in his official residence at the Tshilidzini Hospital in Thohoyandou where he worked.

The 25-year-old student was found dead at about 19:00 on Friday and was last seen on Monday.

She hails from Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen.

"The motive of this killing is still unknown but domestic violence cannot be ruled out," said Ngoepe.

Anybody with information to help the police is asked to call 082 451 7217, their nearest police station or crime stop on 0860010111.
