Johannesburg - Every dog has its day.

And that was just the case for a lucky pooch who was given a second chance at life after paramedics responded to reports of a collision in Lenasia.

The dog was hit by a car on the N12 on Friday morning.

EMER-G-MED spokesperson Max Cohen said advance life support paramedic, Faheem Hassam found the dog had broken one of its hind legs. It was also bleeding heavily.

Cohen said Hassam bandaged and splinted the leg and put up a drip to administer fluids. Once it had been stabilised, the dog was taken to the SPCA.

None of the occupants of the car was injured.
