Johannesburg - Customs officials from the SA Revenue Service (SARS) have intercepted a parcel containing 22 800 Viagra tablets worth R2.28m.

Sars spokesperson Sandile Memela said the tablets were found on Wednesday at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport with the help of sniffer dogs.

"The dogs found a parcel at the back of a container during a random search. It was among a consignment of other goods from Hong Kong," Memela said.

He said an investigation confirmed that the tablets were Viagra.

No one has claimed the parcel.

The Viagra has since been handed over to the authorities for further investigation, Memela said.
