Durban – A Durban man has been killed after he was hit by a train in the city centre on Monday, paramedic services said.

Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the body of the man, who was believed to be in his 30s, was found at the train line below Leopold and Field streets.

"The man is believed to have been run over by a train. Investigations are continuing to ascertain what led to the collision."

Police were on the scene to investigate.
