Pietermaritzburg - Some KwaZulu-Natal matric pupils sat for their last matric paper — English paper three — on Wednesday.

Talking to The Witness relieved pupils from Siyahlomula said they cannot wait to face the outside world. Sabelo Mpolo (18) said there would be no more homework or studying.

“It feels like I am dreaming. It’s a pity that our library is being renovated now that we are leaving. It has been a wonderful year and now it is time to join the real world.

“Today’s exam paper was okay. I am glad we are done, because books can be very tiring and stressful at times. So it’s goodbye high school and hello university. ”

Sanele Mbule (17) said if given the chance he would do his matric year all over again.

“The thought of me being done with school was exciting but now that this day is finally here, I feel empty in a way. I think I did well with all my papers and I just hope my results will reflect that.”

Siphesihle Shezi (18) said, “I am so glad it is over. The paper was a breeze. It was just the right way to end our year. Matric is very stressful but now we can focus on other things that we had placed on hold during exams.” — WR.
