Elderly man dies in KZN flats fire

2016-06-04 16:09

Durban - An elderly man died after a block of flats caught fire in Isipingo, south of Durban, on Saturday, paramedics said.

The man apparently had previous injuries which made movement extremely difficult, and it is believed that he could not escape the fire in time, ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said.

The 76-year-old man sustained 100% burns over his entire body.

ER24, along with fire and rescue services, extinguished the fire and helped with other emergencies.

No one else was injured during the incident.

The cause of the fire was still unclear.
