Alberton – Ten employees had to be rescued on Thursday night after they were trapped in a lift at a building in Redruth, Alberton.

ER24 paramedics said the group was trapped for 75 minutes.

Spokesperson, Chitra Bodasing, said the employees had left a meeting before getting into the lift.

"They soon found out that the lift was no longer moving," said Bodasing. "Upon arrival... paramedics found that technicians had successfully brought the lift back down and opened the doors."

She said one woman suffered heat cramps and fatigue while another experienced dizziness and spoke of body pains. They were transported to hospital.

The other occupants were all safe, said Bodasing.
