Mbombela - A father and his son were injured when their light aircraft crashed in Mpumalanga early on Wednesday morning.

They were rushed to two different hospitals after the crash near the Vygeboom dam in the Badplaas area just before 07:00, said police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

"What we know is that the two are originally from Mbombela, but were on holiday in Badplaas."

One was being treated at the state-run Rob Ferreira Hospital and the other at the private Medi-Clinic Nelspruit.

"There's not much we can reveal for now about their identity, as their health comes first at the stage," he said.
