Firefighters tackling blaze at Salt River market, shacks

Cape Town – Firefighters were battling a blaze at a building housing a market, as well as neighbouring shacks, in Salt River on Thursday afternoon, a Cape Town official said.

Seventeen firefighters were on scene, as well as three fire engines and a water tanker, said fire and rescue services spokesperson Theo Layne.

No injuries had been reported and the cause was undetermined.
