Pretoria - Police have rescued a kidnapped Pretoria woman and arrested the four alleged perpetrators.

They allegedly kidnapped the wife of a beauty salon owner and demanded a R50 000 ransom, police spokesperson Constable Connie Moganedi said on Thursday.

The man’s wife told Mamelodi police that she was taken from her business in Mamelodi East, Extension 11, on Wednesday.

The alleged kidnappers called him to demand R50 000 in cash and computers. Detectives followed up on information, which led them to Sunnyside, where they spotted the suspects' Toyota Quantum minibus.

A man in the minibus shot at officers and ran away. The woman was rescued unhurt and the four were arrested. They would appear in the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court soon.
