Cape Town – Two people were killed and three injured after four vehicles collided on the R300 in Kuilsriver on Sunday evening, paramdics said.

When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found five people trapped inside one one of the vehicles, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said in a statement.

Paramedics found that two out of the five people sustained fatal injuries.

Three people sustained major injuries. They were taken to the Tygerberg Hospital for further medical attention. 

The occupants of the three other vehicles sustained no injuries, Meiring said.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
