Durban - A man fleeing security guards spent the night trapped on the roof of a business in Springfield Park, and badly injured himself as he tried to get down on Wednesday morning.

Marshall Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said that one of their reaction officers had happened upon the man who was lying stricken on the ground at the entrance to an industrial park in Beechfield Crescent, Durban, on Wednesday morning.

"A Marshall Security Armed Reaction officer was flagged down by a man lying on the ground. The man, who couldn't walk, had leopard crawled to the gate after falling from the roof of a warehouse," he said.

Van Reenen said that the injured man was suspected to be a trespasser who had hidden from security guards the day before.

"In a failed attempt to flee the scene this morning, the man fell from the roof of the property and injured himself. The man tied his jacket to the roof and attempted to climb down, however his attempt was futile and he fell approximately six storeys to the ground," he said.

The man was transported to hospital.
