Johannesburg – Forensic consultant Paul O'Sullivan was arrested by the Hawks at OR Tambo International Airport on Friday night, a private investigator working with police claimed.

Neither the Hawks nor O'Sullivan could be immediately reached by News24 for comment.

Private investigator Mike Bolhuis on Saturday told News24 that O'Sullivan had allegedly committed immigration offences and would be held at the Pretoria police station until his court appearance on Monday.

Bolhuis said O'Sullivan had three passports in his possession and was arrested for contravention of the Immigration Act.

"He was arrested by the Pretoria Hawks task team… other police units were involved as well. He was with his ex-wife and daughter.

"He had almost gotten away because of his platinum flight status, but we managed to flag him before he could leave.

"He was arrested for the Immigration Act Section 26 B of 1995 with Pretoria case number CAS 42 04 2016."

Bolhuis said he had been assisting police in investigating O'Sullivan.

He added that there were other pending cases against O'Sullivan who has been involved in several headline-grabbing investigations including one that led to the arrest and conviction of former police commissioner Jackie Selebi.
