Johannesburg – Police are still searching for a teenage girl who went missing three weeks ago, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini told News24 that police raided a few buildings in the Johannesburg CBD in an effort to find the teen.

The search was conducted by City of Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba, metro police and the SAPS.

Dlamini said while raiding the building, police found dagga and alcohol. Four people were arrested, he said.

Mashaba's spokesperson Tony Taverna-Turisan told News24 that they had received information that the girl was being kept at the Cape York building in corner Jeppe and Nugget Street, Hillbrow, Johannesburg.

The girl's parents also joined in the search.

"The mother was in quite a state. We will do everything in our power to help the family," Taverna-Turisan said.

"Our residents are sick and tired about what is happening in the City of Johannesburg. The building we raided was absolutely filthy. We have to find solutions, irrespective of which political party you belong to," he said.
