Durban – The case against four men accused of killing a well-known SACP activist in Inchanga was postponed on Tuesday, the KwaZulu-Natal NPA said.

The case was postponed to November 7 by the Camperdown Magistrate's Court, spokesperson Natasha Kara said.

Sphe Hlongwa, 27, Sthe Mnguni, 39, Lungisani Basi, 22, and Khehla Shozi, 30, were arrested in August, shortly after Nsiki Blose, 40, was shot and killed.

Blose's killing was believed to be a revenge attack after ANC member Xolani Ngcobo was shot and killed, allegedly by an SACP member.

Blose was scheduled to testify in the murder case of Phillip Dlamini, 69, who was shot and killed during a public meeting at the KwaNdokweni sports ground in Inchanga earlier this year.

The murder of Dlamini, along with Bongani Hlatshwayo, 38, deepened the divisions between the ANC and the SACP in the area.

Police increased their presence in Ward 4 in the area ahead of the August 3 local government elections.

SACP-aligned independent candidate Malombo Nxumalo, who is a relative of former Ethekwini mayor James Nxumalo, won the ward.
