Durban - A Stanger taxi boss was gunned down in a hit-style shooting in Townview on Wednesday night.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that police had rushed to the scene of the shooting after a concerned member of the public had reported several gunshots in the area.

"Upon arrival at the scene, they noticed a Red Mitsubishi vehicle with several gunshot holes. Inside the vehicle, there was a 42-year-old man on the driver’s seat with gunshot wounds," he said.
Zwane said that the motive for the slaying was still unknown.

"A case of murder was opened at KwaDukuza police station for investigation and no arrests have been made," he said.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Paul Herbst said that the man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body, fatally wounding him.

"Upon arrival of IPSS Paramedics the victim was declared dead due to his extensive injuries," he said.
