KZN woman was assaulted, not stabbed – police

Durban – A 56-year-old woman who was killed in her Musgrave Road flat on Monday morning was assaulted, not stabbed, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Major Thulani Zwane said the police initially thought that the woman was stabbed to death but they are now waiting for a postmortem report to establish the cause of death.

Zwane told News24 earlier that two suspects entered the woman’s home and robbed her, before killing her.

No arrests had been made and the police were still looking for the suspects.

Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson said paramedics were called at around 10:00.

"Advanced life support treatment was administered and paramedics worked to try and resuscitate the patient," he said. "However, the injuries were too severe and the lady was declared dead at the scene."
