Bloemfontein – Free State Premier Ace Magashule on Monday announced a Cabinet reshuffle.

Former chairperson of the provincial legislature committee on governance, Limakatso Mahasa, would head up the social development department.

“As a young person, Hon Mahasa, will add an enriched and vibrant flavour into the provincial Cabinet,” he said.

Social development MEC Sisi Ntombela was moved to the co-operative governance and human settlements department.

Ntombela replaced Olly Mlamleli, who became Mangaung mayor after the August 3 local government elections.

Health MEC Benny Malakoane was moved to economic and small business development, tourism and environmental affairs. Butana Komphela would replace him in the health department.

Economic and small business development, tourism and environmental affairs MEC Sam Mashinini was moved to police, roads and transport.

Provincial ANC spokesperson Thabo Meeko said they welcomed the reshuffle.

"We believe that the executive has been strengthened so that it can deal with issues that our people have raised in the local government elections," he said.
