Johannesburg – A man who allegedly raped his girlfriend’s sister is due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, police said.

Police arrested the 25-year-old man at the Hotel VIP in Troye Street, in central Johannesburg, on Monday, after his alleged victim screamed for help. A security guard came to her aid, Captain Xoli Mbele said in a statement on Wednesday.

Earlier, he had offered to help fix the 20-year-old woman’s broken cellphone. They met at the Noord Street taxi rank and he then invited her back to the hotel, where he was staying, for a meal and allegedly raped her.
