Cape Town – A man was arrested at Cape Town International Airport for suspected cocaine smuggling, Western Cape police said on Monday.

A hidden compartment was found during a police search of his pink suitcase on Sunday morning, said Captain FC van Wyk.

A police sniffer dog reacted positively to 22 plastic bags, containing a white substance, stashed inside the compartment.

The substance, weighing 2.36kg, had an approximate street value of R708 000.

The Nigerian national was arrested and would appear in Bellville Magistrate's Court soon.
