Cape Town - A man was severely burnt after his car was set alight in Gardens, Cape Town, on Tuesday morning.

The man was attacked in his car around 08:00, said Western Cape police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.

“Cases of attempted murder and malicious damage to property are being investigated.”

She refused to confirm whether the vehicle was petrol-bombed.

“The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated,” she said.

Fire and rescue officials extinguished the fire and removed the man, believed to be in his 50s, from the vehicle, said ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
