Man dies after being struck by lightning in Centurion

Pretoria - A man died instantly after being struck by lightning in Centurion on Tuesday.

The man, still to be identified, was on his way home from work when the incident happened.

Constable Tumisang Moloto, spokesperson for Olievenhoutbosch police in Centurion, said the man was dead when police and emergency services arrived on the scene.

“It is believed that the man died on impact,” Moloto told News24.

The incident happened in a park next to the R55 in Olievenhoutsbosch between 18:00 and 19:00 on Tuesday.

Moloto said that an inquest is to be held.
