Durban – A 42-year-old man and his nephew, 16, have died after their boat capsized at a dam near a guesthouse in the Natal Midlands in Nottingham Road, on Saturday afternoon, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

It was believed that the two were on vacation at the time of the incident. They were paddling around 14:15 when they got into difficulty and disappeared under the water, Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said.

Police search and rescue divers were called to locate the bodies. They were later found and declared dead on scene.

Gwala said an inquest docket had been opened.
