Durban– A 41-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he hit his head at the bottom of a pool in Firwood Road Avoca in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

Paramedics responded to the scene on Thursday afternoon, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

"Reports from the scene indicate that the forty-one-year-old man dove into the pool and hit his head on the bottom," Botha said.

The man was found at the side of the pool with indications of spinal injuries.

Netcare emergency care practitioner placed the man on to a ventilator to assist with his breathing.

"The patient was skilfully immobilised on a trauma board to prevent any further injuries to his spine, they then transported him to a specialised hospital in Durban for the care that he required."
