Johannesburg – A 30-year-old man has survived getting shot in the head following a car crash on South Africa Drive in Cosmo City, Roodepoort.

Police said that the driver of the other car involved in the accident had allegedly shot him, and was subsequently arrested.

Paramedics found the man sitting on a pavement near his vehicle, ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.

He had a gunshot wound to the front of his head and was immediately assessed by paramedics and treated for his injury.

Vermaak said the bullet had entered the front of his skull.

He was in a serious but stable condition, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

"The man told paramedics that he was involved in a collision with another vehicle, when the other driver apparently got out of the vehicle and shot him," Vermaak said.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the alleged shooter would be charged with attempted murder and was expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon.
