Johannesburg - An eyewitness saw a microlight spin out of control before crashing in Randburg, Johannesburg, killing one person on Friday, paramedics said.

Paramedics arrived at a sports ground at the intersection of Garden and Jan Smuts roads and found the smoldering wreckage, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

"Paramedics found a body lying near the wreckage.

"Unfortunately the patient had already succumbed to their multiple, fatal injuries," he said.

The cause of the accident was not known, but was being investigated.
