Cape Town - The man accused of killing a Khayelitsha woman on her 21st birthday, pointed out where she had been buried just before concrete for a planned block of flats could be laid.

This was according to the State in its case against Monwabisi Mbombo, 23, who was arrested for the murder of Anelisa Dulase. She had been missing for three months before her corpse was recovered on Monday.

She disappeared while celebrating her 21st birthday at a tavern in Town Two, Khayelitsha, on January 31.

According to the State, Dulase and the accused got into an argument on the night of her party and witnesses reported that he had assaulted her.

Her body was discovered buried under an incomplete building in Makhaza.

The site where her body was found is next door to the suspect's home.

Her hands had been tied and it was unclear if she had been raped.

The suspect, who told the magistrate he was an entertainer, said he would be paying for his own legal representation.

The case was postponed to May 17 for a bail application.
