Cape Town – Officers have changed inquest to a murder investigation after a woman’s body was found at a Stellenbosch hotel, Western Cape police said on Friday.

The 47-year-old’s body was found on July 24, said spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk.

Netwerk24 identified her as Susan Rhode from Johannesburg.

It reported that her death at Spier Hotel was initially thought to have been as a result of a suicide.

Van Wyk said their investigation turned to murder on Thursday after a post mortem was done.

He would not divulge the cause of death.

No arrests had yet been made.
