Durban - A naked man was killed after being hit by a car while running on the N2 highway near Asherville, Durban, on Thursday.

Medics responded to the “bizarre” emergency call after morning rush hour traffic had subsided, Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said.

“We arrived on the scene to find the man lying in the roadway having sustained fatal head injuries. He was declared dead,” he said.

What exactly happened to the man was not yet known. Although paramedics found him naked, the theft of his clothes could not be ruled out.

“Stranger things have happened,” he said.
