Cape Town - The date for the motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma has been revised to August 8, Parliament announced on Sunday.

In a statement, it said the Speaker of the National Assembly had decided to revise the date after consultation with political parties in Parliament and with the Executive.

The date was previously set as August 3.

"There was an oversight during the initial consultations and determination of the originally announced date, which overlooked the fact that a Cabinet Lekgotla had already been set for that week.

"The deadline for political parties to submit their views regarding their preferred means of voting on this particular Motion, that is, whether by a secret or open ballot, remains July 14, 2017."

Parliament said the Speaker will make her decision about the voting procedure before August 8.
