Port Elizabeth - The latest accused linked to the murder of Jayde Panayiotou made another brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Zolani Sibeko, 35, appeared again briefly in front of Magistrate Este Petzer.

His attorney, Louis van Rensburg, said Sibeko would consider submitting a bail application once they had seen the case docket. The State had previously indicated it would oppose a bail application.

Sibeko was linked to the conspiracy to murder Jayde after a month-long investigation, which included cellphone plotting.

It allegedly showed that he had been with co-accused Sizwezakhe Vumazonke, 30, and Sinethemba Nenembe, 29, at least once while they were plotting the route she travelled to work.

She was abducted from outside the Stellen Glen complex in Kabega Park on April 21 2015. She was forced into the boot of a hired car, taken to remote area behind KwaNobuhle and shot dead.

Jayde’s husband, Christopher Panayiotou, was arrested shortly after her murder. He is accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife. He has since applied for bail twice, and has been denied on both occasions.

The State alleges that Panayiotou approached a bouncer who worked for him - Luthando Siyoni - to hire a hitman. Siyoni has since turned State witness.

Vumazonke was arrested shortly afterward as the alleged hitman. In October last year, Nenembe was linked to the crime and arrested.

Sibeko’s case was postponed to July 27 for a referral to the High Court.

The other three - Panayiotou, Vumazonke and Nenembe - would appear in the Port Elizabeth High Court for the first time on July 26.
