Johannesburg - There will be several road closures around Pretoria's Church Square on New Year's Eve.

The City of Tshwane 2015 Carnival will take place on Thursday at Church Square from 12:00 to sunrise on Friday.

The City said in a statement that the affected streets would include Pretorius Street, Thabo Sehume Street, Madiba Street and Bosman Street.

"People who will be attending the event should take note that the main entrance to the event will be WF Nkomo and Bosman street."

Braai stands and bottles would not be permitted.

Metro police officers would be monitoring all the affected streets and motorists were advised to use alternative routes.
