Junior world champion bodybuilder, Sifiso Lungelo Thabethe, died after falling during a bodybuilding event.

"We suspect, because he was wearing socks this time, that he slipped or didn't get enough momentum and landed horribly on his head," says BBSA executive president Wayne Price.

Dullah Omar's nephew shot dead

Shaheed Omar, the nephew of struggle stalwart Dullah Omar was shot dead in what is believed to be an attempted hijacking.

It is unlike that the fatal shooting was politically motivated, said his grief-stricken aunt.

I'm my own man, insists Van Niekerk

Wayde van Niekerk says he is building his own "image and brand" and doesn't want to be tagged as the successor to track and field legends Usain Bolt and Michael Johnson.

"I will never try and fill Usain's shoes, or Michael's," said van Niekerk. "I've shown enough dominance, hard work and performances to start building my own image and brand."

Zweli Mkhize: Secret ballot result no reason for ANC 'jubilation'

African National Congress treasurer general Zweli Mkhize says the fact that its MPs chose to vote with the opposition, means the party shouldn't be celebrating the secret ballot result.

"This is certainly not a time for jubilation, but rather warrants reflection and great self-introspection on the current challenges within the party," he wrote in an opinion piece for Daily Maverick

KPMG CEO: We should have bailed on Guptas sooner

Audit firm KPMG should have stopped working for the Gupta companies sooner than it did, according to KPMG SA CEO Trevor Hoole.

"While the last audit opinions for the group were signed for the 28 February 2015 year end, it is now clear that based on publicly-available information, KPMG should have resigned earlier than March 2016 and should have stopped working for the Gupta companies sooner than we did," Hoole said.
