Pietermaritzburg - It is believed that the infamous “Gadget Gang” has struck again, this time at Northern Park Primary School.

The gang is believed to have been involved in eight other school burglaries over the last two months, with six of the schools targeted being in Pietermaritzburg.

After a spate of school burglaries over January and February, police believe the burglaries were linked.

Using the same modus operandi, the gang enters the school property through the roof, disabling the alarm system before getting away with thousands of rands worth of computers and other electronic equipment.

A Witness report in January this year revealed that in a month over 100 computers worth over R1 million had been stolen by the gang.

Pietermaritzburg police spokesperson sergeant Mthokozisi Ngobese said yesterday the same modus operandi as previous school burglaries had been used at Northern Park Primary last Thursday.

“They entered through the roof as we have seen in the burglaries of the other schools.”

Ngobese said two computers and two laptops were stolen from the school and no arrests had been made.

Northern Park Primary did not comment by the time of going to print yesterday afternoon.
