Durban - The number of injured has risen to 131 after two trains collided between Mobeni and Havenside areas of KwaZulu-Natal, RescueCare told News24 on Thursday evening. 

Its spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said injuries ranged from minor to moderate. He said patients that could walk, were walked up to Swinton Road while rescuers carried others.

"Lines of ambulances could be seen down Swinton Road as the injured were brought up... At this stage it is unclear what caused the two passenger trains to collide, however police and train officials were on scene and will be investigating further," he said.
