Cape Town – A commuter was killed and 11 others injured after a minibus taxi driver lost control of his vehicle in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, an ER24 official said.

Paramedics arrived at the scene leading towards High Flats and found the roof had been removed from the vehicle, said ER24 spokesperson Annine Dormehl.

The fire department had removed it to save the driver and passengers.

Three people were critically injured while the others sustained moderate injuries.

Most were transported to a hospital in Scottburgh.

Police were investigating.
