Bloemfontein – One person died and two others were injured when a truck collided with a car on the R26 about 20km from Bethlehem heading towards Reitz on Friday night, Free State paramedics said.

According to ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing, when paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found a badly damaged car in the middle of the road.

The truck was in the field alongside the road.

“Paramedics found a man trapped in the car. Upon assessment it was found that he sustained multiple injuries. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for him. He had succumbed to his injuries,” said Bodasing.

Two men were found seated in the truck with moderate injuries.

They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.
