Cape Town – A woman was caught trying to throw herself off a bridge early Saturday morning, paramedics said.

The woman and an unknown male were in the middle of a violent argument when the woman threatened to kill herself, Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said on Saturday.

The two were fighting on Queen Nandi Drive in Durban close to the N2 bridge around 02:00, he said.

During a scuffle, the woman, believed to be in her 40s, tried to jump off the bridge.

A paramedic managed to catch her and restrain her before she could fall over, Van Reenen said.

He said the matter was handed over to police to investigate.
