Durban - A female staff member at a take-away outlet in Durban was injured after a Land Rover Freelander ploughed into the glass front of the premises, security officials reported on Tuesday.

"The driver thought he was in reverse [but] unfortunately he was in drive. He went forward and through the glass doors of the take-away," Marshall Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen told News24.

The driver, aged 33, knocked over one of the staff members at the Some Like It Hot take-away outlet on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Van Reenen said.

The woman was treated by paramedics on the scene before being taken to hospital with moderate injuries. The driver was unhurt.

Van Reenen said that the incident happened on Tuesday at around 09:00 and that the restaurant had subsequently closed to clean up the scene.
