PICS: Rain causes traffic chaos in Pretoria

2016-03-10 08:38

Pretoria - Heavy rain in Gauteng overnight has caused localised flooding, particularly in Pretoria, leading to traffic disruptions and road and bridge closures.

The SA Weather Service said over 100mm of rain fell in Pretoria overnight.

Motorists have been advised to avoid low-lying roads and low bridges, keep their headlights on and drive slowly.

A car was swept down a river in Doornpoort on Wednesday night, and another car was reportedly washed down a river in Honingneskrans on Thursday morning.

Emergency services are on alert and are dealing with a number of accidents.
