Bakerton - A suspected robber was killed and another injured during a robbery in Bakerton, Springs on Wednesday, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) said.

A third managed to escape.

The injured suspect was shot in the head during a shoot-out with police.

EMPD spokesperson Clifford Shongwe said the three men had allegedly robbed a 63-year old man at his residence in the East Rand.

During the robbery they locked the man in the boot of his car.

"When his son arrived, they took him out of the boot and locked them both inside the house," Shongwe said.

One of the neighbours alerted EMPD about the incident.

He said the robbery victim and his son were not harmed during the incident.
