Cape Town - There is still no trace of a Hermanus man last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Barend "Barry" Leonard, 20, was last spotted near the old local harbour after leaving a nightspot around 2:00.

He reportedly did not have his cellphone with him.

Police were continuing their search for Leonard.

The National Sea Rescue Institute conducted a sea and shoreline search for him on Sunday morning. This after Leonard's family launched a search of their own when Leonard did not return home on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed that a missing person’s case had been opened and that an investigation was underway.
