Durban – A security guard was shot and injured during a cash-in-transit heist at Dube Village Mall in Inanda, north of Durban on Thursday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele told News24 that the men managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money during the shooting.

She said the security guards were transporting cash at noon when they were accosted by the group of men.

A shootout ensued and one security guard was shot and injured, she said.

“The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. A case of armed robbery and attempted murder was opened at Inanda police station for investigation,” Mbhele said.
