Bloemfontein – Six men have been arrested in Bloemfontein in connection with the hijacking of a truck transporting R2 million worth of energy drinks, Free State police said on Wednesday.

It was hijacked in Umbilo, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday night, while transporting its cargo to various parts of the country, Constable Peter Kareli said.

On Tuesday, Free State police received a tip-off that the truck was on its way to Bloemfontein.

The six were arrested while unloading the truck at a storage facility in Bloemfontein. Investigations revealed that there were other storage units containing allegedly stolen shoes and perfumes worth over R4 million.

They were expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court soon for possession of stolen goods and a stolen truck.
